Ode to Bloody Caesar

Some days are just bloody days. Bloody days can be pregame days. Some bloody days are holidays. Most bloody days are full of melancholy.

There isn’t a perfect bloody recipe. Some are better than others, most just follow the mood. I like them light, refreshing, and citrusy. Then, I like them spicy. Then, I like them hearty. I don’t like it when a cutesy bartender puts half the rawbar or a BLT on the top of it.

Today I made a Bloody Caesar. It was good . . .

The Melancholy Caesar and Stump Sound Oysters

The RECEIPT:

In a food processor, “The Sauce”:

Ripe Roma tomatoes, 1/2 tablespoon garlic, 1/2 tablespoon shallot, one anchovy, one Serrano pepper, beef broth, Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, Teaspoon Raisins, Tablespoon Lemon Juice, Teaspoon Cider Vinegar, Lump Horseradish, Cracked Pepper

In the Pitcher, “The Cocktail”

3 parts Caesar Sauce

1 part Swanson’s Beef Broth

1 part Vodka

Garnish with Lemon, Celery, Olives

Birdie Likes Oyster Jiuce
